Meet the Expert: Dr. Emily Swanson, DMD
Dr. Emily Swanson is a native of Newnan, GA. She attended undergrad at Georgia Tech where she earned a BS in Biology. Dr. Swanson earned her DMD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She is an active member of the American Dental Association on a local, state, and national level, as well as the Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and Southern Women’s Dental Study Club.
Dr. Swanson is dedicated to providing exceptional comprehensive dental care and educating her patients to ensure they achieve healthy and beautiful smiles. Dr. Swanson and her husband, Brian, were married in 2018. They have a Bernedoodle named Legolas, and enjoy exploring Nashville together. Dr. Swanson is a pianist, and enjoys exercising, a good book, and a cup of tea.

Dr. Emily working on a patient. She uses the special glasses to be able to see exactly what she is doing when she is working on her patient’s teeth.
Before Dr. Emily could work on actual patients, she had to learn how to work on models of teeth. One of the assignments she had in dental school was to mold teeth out of pieces of soap. This activity helps dentists to understand how they need to re-build teeth that might have cavities that need to be filled. The filling must fit into their mouth correctly to keep the person’s bite even. It’s not an easy job. Give it a try!
